A counsellor in Lancaster and Manchester
Hello, and welcome to Beyond Labels. My name is Olivia; I'm a therapist, trainer and supervisor. Everyone is a unique individual, and I'm committed to recognising that fact as I work with you. You are not a label – you're a unique person. In my counselling, counselling training, and counselling supervision work I want to make sure that it's not what, but who you are that matters.
I have spent over 30 years as an educator and counsellor working with such organisations as The Manchester College, The Youth Justice Trust, Barnardos and Manchester LGBT Foundation.
I offer integrative counselling, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with person centred values at the core. See my Counselling page to find out more about my kind of counselling. I don't have a particular specialism, but have supported people, young and old, dealing with a wide range of troubling feelings and pressures leading to mental ill-health and inability to cope. I offer long and short term face to face counselling to individuals, couples and families. I also train other counsellors, and offer counselling supervision to qualified practitioners.
Counselling can help
Counselling is often referred to as a talking treatment. It isn't easy to open up to a complete stranger; finding the counsellor that suits you should not be ‘hit or miss’. I think it should be a positive decision.
Whatever the cause, problems often affect our mental health and well-being, especially when we have to cope with underlying emotions such as fear, sadness, guilt, regrets or a sense of hopelessness. I won't provide answers, but will support you to gain insight and skills to help your decision-making about action for change.
See my Practicalities page, or the bottom of this page, for how to contact me for a free first appointment.
Counselling can help in many ways, but notably it provides you with a confidential, safe ‘me space’ that is free from judgement or the need to be other than you are. As a counsellor it is my role to offer my clients professional integrity; empathy; guidance and skills to find their way.

just to talk to someone, just to be listened to, made all the difference. I was not going mad..
